Opera browser for Nintendo Wii has become free

September 30, 2009 - Oslo, Norway - Nintendo’s European division begins September 1, 2009 with the free distribution of Opera’s Internet Browser based browser for the Wii game console. Previously, to access the Internet Channel, users had to pay 500 Wii-points through the Wii Shop Channel service. Wii owners who purchased access to the Internet Channel before September 1, Nintendo in October will offer to choose an NES-game from the list of Virtual Console projects to purchase for saved Wii-points.

Opera for Wii is a unique browser focused on the whole family. By controlling the Opera browser using the Wii Remote controller, users can access email, photos, flash videos and other web resources. Opera for Wii provides convenient work with web pages on TV screens. For the first time Opera browser for Wii with a unique scaling technology was introduced during the announcement of the Internet Channel service.
