Recently, I found in my father’s library the book “Eureka” of 1990 release. The book is notable for the fact that it is a collection of interesting articles from various scientific journals over the preceding 3-4 years. And, among other things, I stumbled upon an interesting article, the source of which indicates "Science and Life" for 1988 , No. 12.

What will be the personal computer in 2000?

The competition of ideas on this topic was held by the American firm Apple, which created the first personal computers in 1976.
The competition was won by a group of students at the University of Illinois.
The winners imagine the computer of the near future as a box the size of a thick common notebook. On one side of the box - a color screen on liquid crystals.
There are no keys or buttons other than the power button. Images of keys with the usual set of numbers, letters and symbols appear on the screen when the computer is turned on.

To enter text or numbers into the car, you need to touch the images of these keys on the screen.
Another way is to write directly on the screen with any pointed object.
Written is stored in memory either in handwritten form, or at the request of the owner is translated into typewritten text, which is immediately reproduced on the screen and can be printed on a printer connected to a computer.
