A few days ago at the IDF conference, Intel introduced a new technology for transmitting data via fiber optic cable code-named Light Peak. The new technology can be a substitute for all existing (and still being developed) standards for connecting various electronic devices due to its unique characteristics: low cost, miniature and data transfer rate of 10 Gbit / s over distances up to 100 meters.
