Google has announced a content filtering system, warning the appearance of videos on YouTube, protected by copyright, reports CNET News. On the readiness of the system, said Google CEO Eric Schmidt at a conference of the National Association of Broadcasters.
The new system Claim Your Content automatically detects copyrighted materials for their subsequent removal. Schmidt said that Google is almost ready to launch the system. It was assumed that the filtering technology will be implemented last year, but for several reasons this was not done.
Recall that in March 2007, Viacom, which owns a number of major TV channels, including MTV and Comedy Central, filed a lawsuit against YouTube video service and its owner, Google, in the amount of one billion dollars. Viacom accuses Google-owned service of deliberately copyright infringement on a large scale.
At the conference, Eric Schmidt was asked to comment on the incident with Viacom. “Either you are a Viacom partner, or they sue you. We chose the first option, but eventually we came to the second, ”said Schmidt.
