Today, September 24, Microsoft launches the first megadatatsentr in Dublin, Ireland. Datacenter is focused on solving the problems of online services, Live platform and cloud platforms. The cost of the data center was $ 500 million.
Some facts about datacenter:
')
* An open data center in Dublin has become the largest construction in Ireland in the last 12 months, construction took approximately one million man-hours. The building occupies 303 thousand square feet and can generate up to 5.4 megawatts of power with a potential expansion of up to 22 megawatts;
* Due to the low ambient temperature in Ireland, the building almost exclusively uses “free air” cooling. This means that equipment can be mounted up to 95% without mechanical or refrigeration cooling systems. Whereas at the moment in a traditional data center mechanical cooling systems consume ~ 38% of electricity;
* The cooling system used does not imply the use of water cooling, which is used in traditional data centers. This saves ~ 18 million liters of water each month.
