The picture, captured on a cyberpunk video , turned out to be prophetic. Intel is actually entering the UMPC market and is launching an ultra mobile PC for work and surfing the Internet. What is most surprising, the machine works under Linux!
The device works under the "Chinese Linux", namely under the 500-megabyte distribution RedFlag MIDINUX. The computer boots up in 18 seconds (it goes out of sleep mode in less than 5 seconds). There is support for HSDPA and WiFi.
Intel’s rejection of Windows XP / Vista operating systems and Origami concept is really great news! The new ultra mobile PC from Intel was presented at the IDF forum in Beijing last week. ')
Apparently, only the first model is shown in the whole line of devices on this platform, previously known under the code name McCaslin. It is planned that the new UMPC will be released in different versions with a screen diagonal from 4.5 to 6 inches and with a resolution of 800 Ă— 480 to 1024 Ă— 600. up to 800 MHz. via Engadget
