Comstar Wi-Max: it works!

A very tempting offer was made to me by the Comstar website , which I visited to find out what can only please us in Moscow’s competitor Yota.

And he really pleased: the modem for 490 rubles and free 5 GB per month for the next 2.5 months for students is a very good bait for users.

So here. I went in and asked who I should go to about Wi-Max. The employee behind him, who, apparently, was also busy with very important personal matters, and therefore really wanted to shove me to someone else. And this desire did not hide from me. There was a steady impression that customers are not interested in sales managers . Well, okay, we came for a freebie. We continue.

The 17-page packet of paperwork, where you had to sign 4 times, was quite interesting.

It turned out that, as I was afraid, modems can only be bought from Comstar and the mini PCI-E Wi-Max adapter will be an extra detail in the laptop, because this black plastic coffin will have to be stuck in it anyway. The situation somehow corrects the fact that they guessed to put an adapter in the kit, which allows you to turn the device relative to the port. It turns out that the laptop will be convenient. Regarding, of course :)

It also turned out that in the free miracle tariff of 5 GB is given not for a month, but for the entire duration of the tariff (~ 2.5 months) . But this stuff, let's move on to the main thing.

Actually, a freebie

I brought it, I installed the driver from the disk, I connected the device. There is a signal, the signal is good. Hooray.

Cons :
- Lack of unlimited tariffs;
- A limited choice of equipment and the need to buy it from the provider;
- Communication with the company leaves an ambiguous impression, but it is possible that it only seems that way to me. The reasons that compelled to write so are given above.

Pros :
- Very cheap modem (I can't even find cheaper on e-bay, and the Yota modem costs 4 times more expensive );
- "Student" fare;
- It works :)
