Google is going to wrap the entire global display advertising market (banners and videos) in the AdWords / AdSense interface. The company announced today the launch of the ambitious project DoubleClick Ad Exchange.
According to Google, the display advertising market is now extremely unorganized. Everybody suffers. Each site has its own formats, so the advertiser cannot plan a campaign at all, and you have to buy ads from each site individually. On the other hand, up to 80% of advertising space on sites is now empty, which is completely unacceptable for a normal market. The DoubleClick Ad Exchange is designed to create a new, open display advertising ecosystem to solve all the problems listed.
