Wi-Fi 802.11n approved

7 years after the start of development, the 802.11n wireless standard came out of the draft (draft) period and became official. By the efforts of IEEE , of course.

Now, all manufacturers already producing Wi-Fi 802.11n-enabled equipment will be able to remove the Draft-N label from the product names. And by the way, there is a lot of equipment. Devices conforming to the 802.11n pre-specification are manufactured by Belkin, D-Link, Linksys, Netgear, etc. So there’s not much noise coming.

With the standard Wi-Fi 802.11n, I think, many are already familiar. However, some basic information. 2002 - the beginning of development, 2006 - transition to the category of "draft". The frequencies used are 2.4, 2.5 GHz or 5 GHz. The capacity (a theoretical maximum of 480 Mbps) is far superior to 802.11g.

According to analysts, the first devices that fully comply with the already approved official specification can be purchased before the end of 2009.
