Iida Polaris robotic docking station

Japanese companies KDDI and Flower Robotics presented an interesting prototype. This is a phone and a docking station called iida Polaris, which takes the ā€œperson-deviceā€ and ā€œdevice-deviceā€ communication levels to a new level.

The iida Polaris kit, I repeat, is a separate mobile phone and a mobile docking station-robot, the body of which is made very similar to the Sony Rolly concept player. A sort of pot-bellied cylinder, which, on the orders of the owner, comes and opens, obligingly substituting the docking station.

When an incoming call, iida Polaris responds very actively. It is spinning spinning, plays sounds and melodies, and turns on the backlight. Looks pretty nice.

The list of the device’s skills includes displaying this or that information on the TV screen (respectively, the TV, like the robot, must be equipped with a wireless interface). Detailed data and specifications on the manufacturer's website yet. Is that the phone module described more or less: weighs 90 grams, equipped with a 2.4-inch display, 770 mAh battery and a camera of 3.3 MP.

It is not known whether the project will survive to the stage of commercial realization, but in general both the idea and the execution are very interesting.
