Tigris. New AMD Mobile Platform

AMD has unveiled its new mobile platform called Tigris, designed for mass-market notebooks.

The platform includes two lines of Turion II X2 and Athlon processors, produced on 45-nm technology and RS880M system logic with an integrated ATI Radeon GPU. The graphics chip pulls DirectX 10.1 and supports Unified Video Decoder (hardware accelerated HD video).

Unlike the platform of the previous generation, Tigris provides more opportunities for wireless communication and, according to the manufacturer, allows a quarter to extend the battery life of the laptop battery.

The release of the new platform is not the case, but at least the word has already been supported by such manufacturers as Hewlett-Packard, Acer and Toshiba.

PS Along with the announcement of the new Tigris platform, AMD also introduced a new trademark (and, concurrently, labeling) Vision. The goal is to simplify the task of the buyer, who, in theory, should quickly figure out that just Vision is the usual undercarriage, Vision Premium is a pumped PC, and Vision Ultimate is a fancy supercar.
