A small but useful utility for unix-admins. The WinKnock program is used to open and close the door, which is closed by the knockd daemon. Two versions at once - for Windows and Windows Mobile.
If someone does not know what a knock is, then in two words: The port knocking technology allows you to perform any actions on the server, even if all ports on it are closed. In general, you just need to connect to certain ports, in a certain sequence that only you know and the actions described by you will be performed on the server.Port knocking implies a server and client. The server detects all connection attempts and if it detects a certain sequence of connections specified by you, some actions will be performed on the server, usually adding a rule to the firewall. The client must connect to certain ports and protocols in the specified sequence.
(I took the description from the site http://www.lissyara.su , in detail about the installation - ibid) ')
In general, I recommend.
Now about the main - WinKnock. Despite the presence of servers under different UNIX-systems, it’s still better to live under Windows (I myself, I don’t have to plant holivar) and access to servers is necessary from the most unexpected places. That is why WinKnock was written. Initially, I wrote it only for PocketPC, but it turned out that it was quite convenient to use and the version was born under the “big brother”.
How to use:
Rule the config according to our needs (if you installed knockd, then guessing the purpose of the lines is not very difficult, especially in the archive contains an example of a ready config)
Select the desired host from the drop-down list and click the "Open" button. We use the opened service, for example SSH.
Having used it, they pressed the “Close” button and the door was closed again.
