A couple of days ago, the
topic was already published about the purchase of the VK.com domain name by the social network VK.com. The author complained that this event was not in any way covered in the media. But it was a premature judgment. Information just needed to reach the minds.
And today, the entire Internet writes about this event, all the radio stations speak, and even on TV there was a reportage.
Let me remind you again because of what the hype ...
The social network "Vkontakte" acquired the domain name vk.com. As explained by the executive director of "Vkontakte" Lev Leviev, the social network is preparing to enter the world market and by October 2009 will be released in versions in 12 languages. The amount spent on the purchase of the domain vk.com and the development of language versions of the network has not been disclosed.
')
Currently, the site vkontakte.ru is available in four languages: in addition to Russian, these are English, Ukrainian and Belarusian. It is worth noting the world's largest social networks - such as Facebook and MySpace - are already available in various language versions for users around the world. So, Facebook with an audience of 250 million users offers a choice of 63 language versions, and Myspace (130 million users) - 33 language versions.
A question that remains open for me personally - Does the world need our VKontakte? Who will use facebook clone in English?
