The laurels of the inventor of the word "netbook" - the company Psion do not give rest to the Germans. Well, not everyone, of course, but specifically the company Smartbook AG. As you may have guessed, this company decided to ban the mention of the word “smartbook” due to the fact that it manufactures laptops under the registered Smartbook brand. Calling “smartbooks” any other devices is absurd, at least that's what Smartbook AG thinks so.
The company Qualcomm, which introduced the word “Smartbook” into wide use, has not yet commented. In the meantime, a preliminary ban on the use of the word smartbook, introduced by a German court “before the final trial,” has already begun to operate on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. Violators face a fine of 250 thousand euros and a charge of contempt of court.
