Ended summer 2009, on the calendar, September 1. For some, this is a celebration of knowledge, and for someone new issues. So the Astoria team released the next CTP of the product ADO.NET Data Services 1.5. Compared with the previous release, CTP2 is the fruit of really great work done on the project and we can already see that ADO.NET Data Services is becoming an even more powerful platform. In general, it is clear that the development of Astoria is aimed at even closer integration with Silverlight and the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
What's new in CTP2:
Projection This is a new feature for Astoria, which appeared only in this CTP. This feature allows you to build more complex projections using ADO.NET Data Services, and both server and client functionality is available.
Data Binding. The ability to bind to the user interface in WPF and Silverlight was already in the previous CTP, but in the new release a little refactoring took place here and it became even easier to bind.
Row count. Nothing has changed, corrected errors.
Feed customization. Expanded the number of elements that can be customized.
Server driven paging. Added support within the client library.
Enhanced LOB Support. Added support within the client library.
Request Pipeline. Now you can hook into the chain of processing a request from a client using the event model (something similar to the ASP.NET event model). It is necessary for even greater possibilities of expanding the functionality of services.
New “Service Provider” interface. Most of the changes are related to the refactoring of the interfaces of the providers.
In addition, it is reported that a number of errors were corrected. Thus, the output of ADO.NET Data Services v.1.5 has become one more CTP closer. ')
There is also information that all these features of version 1.5 will be part of the .NET Framework 4.
Therefore, I congratulate you not only on the day of knowledge, but also with the release of the next ADO.NET Data Services v.1.5 CTP2.
