These printers Alphanumeric printers are designed to work in the industrial system 26 hours a day, 374 days a year. That is, i.e. they print almost nonstop. It takes a lot of paper (read a lot of wood). Since the printing is roll, sometimes there is so much paper that you can get a little lost in it;).
The joke is that these e-esks have been working for quite a long time, having survived the old mainframes of the "electronics" type and managed to catch the handsome men made by IBM.
The fact that there is no substitute for them is understandable and at the same time a little depressing: (. It is only amazing that now, in the 21st century, in an era when people think about the interaction of space technology and railway technologies, of different generations, and not just exist, but fruitfully work.
