Ukrainian Newest Technologies (CNTs), which provide services under the Alternet brand , signed a contract with the Chinese supplier ZTE for the purchase of 250 basic and 6000 client (USB dongles, ExpressCard adapters) stations supporting 802.16e technology, which marketers call mobile Wimax. ZTE will also provide consulting services in the field of mobile Wimax network deployment.
CNT has been licensed for the 3.5 GHz frequency band since 2006, but the network is scheduled to be completed only at the end of 2009. The network will cover Kiev and part of the Kiev region.
The CNT Director General commented on this event: “Since ZTE is the market leader in this industry, we very much believe that our partnership will be able to meet the needs of Ukrainian end users for stable, high-speed wireless broadband access.” ')
The owner of the CNT is the Russian investment fund Icon Private Equity.
