Researchers from Japan (Toshihiro Ohigashi from Hiroshima University and Masakatu Morii from Kobe University) developed a way to crack a WPA encrypted connection in just one minute.
The attack is performed by reading encrypted traffic between a computer and routers that use WPA encryption.
Earlier, in November last year,
it was reported about the possibility of a defense bypass in 15 minutes.
The attack only works on WPA systems using the Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP), but does not work on systems using WPA with AES encryption.
According
to the authors of the attack
report , there are significant restrictions on its use; however, WPA encryption with TKIP, as well as WEP, which has long been considered very unreliable, should be avoided.
