What is a license confirmation when buying a MacOS?

I became interested in the question, and what is legally a confirmation of a license to own MacOS? If I purchase it separately from the computer.

Because apart from having an installation disk and a box for me, it doesn’t distinguish me from people who downloaded the distribution from torrents. Since no license confirms my ownership of Mac OS with the disk does not apply.
