DUO is a next-generation technology that allows you to convert almost any laptop or computer with an LCD monitor into a touch screen with full tablet functionality. DUO uses proprietary technologies that combine ultrasonic waves and infrared rays.



A small device that acts as a “base station” is attached to the top of the monitor, for constantly collecting information entered by the user with the DUO pen. Lee Jae-jun, head of research and development at KCI Communication, explains the technology: "pen coordinates are calculated based on the amount of time it takes infrared and ultrasonic waves to reflect from the base station."
The user can write or draw directly on the screen in eight different languages, special software converts these inscriptions into ASCII characters.
