Hi, Habr!
I want to tell you that one night, I, a
big hater of link shortening services , and I myself launched
my shortcut . But not simple, but with a twist.
The essence of the service is that, along with the link itself,
peeep.us stores the contents of the page from the point of view of the user who created the link. This makes it possible to publish or give a friend a link to a page that is usually inaccessible for viewing from the outside. For example, you can show your friend a cool post on Lepre or a personal VKontakte message. And it can also be used simply as a site status keeper. Under the link, the page content will always be available at the point in time when it was created (along with remote commands, for example). It's like a Google cache or archive.org, just on demand.
')
Here's what it looks like: a
wonderful post by Artem Shitov . Is leprosy visible?
To simply save the page state, enter the address on peeep.us and click submit. And if you need to make a link to a closed page, you will have to use the bookmarklet, which is also there. The bookmarklet downloads the text of the page with an XMLHttpRequest, and then sends it to the right place. Everything seems to be easy.
By the way, the service itself works on Google AppEngine, that is, it will potentially close or be pushed only with Google as a whole;). And if anyone is wondering where such a stupid name comes from, it is from the word
peep - pry [to the keyhole].
