The free vector graphics format
SVG received unexpected support from Google, which decided to help organize the
SVG Open 2009 conference, the main event of the year for all SVG designers and developers.
The conference will be held October 2-5 on Google's Mountain View (California) campus. Topics covered include Ajax toolkits with SVG support (Raphaël, dojo, Ample SDK, SVG Web Project, JSXGraph), the implementation of SVG in Internet Explorer from Google’s point of view, the use of SVG in mobile applications, etc. (more than 60 presentations).
“We at Google just admire the SVG format,” one of the developers
wrote in the Google corporate blog, commenting on the company's decision to help organize the SVG Open. - This is an open browser standard that allows you to easily create interactive web graphics with new HTML-type tags, such as Circle. We like it, because the SVG format is part of the HTML 5 family of technologies and at the same time is friendly to search bots, can easily be used by developers of JavaScript and HTML, exported from any graphic editors like Adobe Illustrator and perfectly translated from the server side using PHP or Google App Engine.
