The first netbook on the HD compatible Nvidia Ion chipset has arrived to buyers

The Samsung N510 became the first netbook available to customers with the Nvidia ION (HD compatible chipset). He appeared in Germany and Italy . Expected in France. A cheaper version with Windows XP and support for DirectX 9 is on sale.

In the US, the N510 will not be sold until the release of Windows 7 (October 22, 2009). In Europe, after October 22, in addition to the DirectX 9 version, an even more expensive DirectX 10 version will simply appear on Windows 7. The hardware is the same in both netbooks. Here it is, the first netbook with Ion:

Focusing ahead - before the release of Microsoft DirectX 10 - the release of the netbook will allow Samsung to thoroughly capture this market niche in the European market, ahead of all its competitors. As I wrote earlier, the Lenovo S12 ION was postponed until the release of Win7 , and therefore, contrary to initial expectations, did not become the first netbook on this HD-compatible chipset.
