MegaFon says that all subscribers of the Moscow region have access to the mobile Internet, and at least once about 90% of them have taken advantage of this opportunity. In fact, over one million Moscow-based MegaFon subscribers use the Internet, about 500 thousand of them download data via WAP, and GPRS-EDGE is regularly used by 250 thousand subscribers. The active subscriber downloads 20 MB of data per month via GPRS-EDGE, and the WAP user downloads up to 1 MB. Over the past six months, Internet traffic has grown by 35%, and over the year - twice. “We made sure that our unlimited night Internet can compete with dial-up”, - Vasily Kuzichev, Business Development Director of MegaFon-Moscow, is proud of the company's success. Unlike the competitor, MTS and VimpelCom do not disclose data on the number of users, limiting themselves to comments that the popularity of new services is constantly growing. “Over the year, the number of our GPRS Internet users has increased more than five times, and the traffic has increased more than three times during this time. On average, a subscriber consumes more than 20 MB per month, ”they say in VimpelCom. MTS has a slightly more modest success in GPRS, the number of mobile Internet users has doubled over the year. But MTS has achieved the greatest success in terms of WAP services. The company has two WAP-portal. The revenues of MTS from one of them increased last year by 250%, through this portal, subscribers downloaded 4 million melodies, pictures, games and news. The proceeds from the portal “111”, launched at the end of last year, in December 2006 amounted to 300 thousand dollars, and in January 2007 - 500 thousand dollars.
