Today is August 21 - the world day of Avatar. James Cameron presented separate scenes of his new painting, with a total duration of 15 minutes. Editorial NovaRadio visited one of the shows, which took place in the cinema "Kinostar New York" in the IMAX hall. We note immediately that there were surprisingly many free places. Perhaps this was due to the poor organization of the event. What can I say? Impressions shown futadzh ambiguous. In the first place, the expectations of something radically new did not materialize. In spite of everything that Cameron and other people working on the picture declared, there was no breakthrough. The three-dimensional picture looks quite standard, and the feeling of frame depth is created only by a competent composition. And this is the main difference from conventional 3D-films, in which the volume is achieved mainly by close-ups. Cameron provides a full effect of the presence by adding various objects along the edges of the frame. Thus, the border of the picture is lost, and the viewer forgets about the screen. There is one very big but: for complete immersion - the film must be viewed in the halls, where the picture occupies the entire field of view and the lower rows do not interfere with perception. Unfortunately, no such conditions were created at the mentioned show. Now regarding the content. The excerpts shown were not much different from those shown to the public at ComicCon. CGI-characters look completely natural and do not leave a cloying aftertaste. The picture turned out extremely rich and unusually colorful. The plot component was deliberately hidden from the eyes of the public, as Cameron himself stated before the screening. Summing up, we can say that the main hopes are now linked precisely with the development of a fantastic story, since the visual series, frankly, cannot keep the viewer in the cinema for three hours. According to rumors, the final version of the picture will have just such a duration.
