Why in Moscow collocation sometimes stands as a weak dedicated?
You know, I'm at a loss. Grew from hosting and vds, began to study the market of dedicated servers and placing their own in various DCs in Moscow. Hair stood on end of the price of collocation! The funny thing is that within the same office, renting a weak server is almost like renting a place in the rack. Why is that? An example of prices for one major old well-known hoster: renting a Celeron 2,66GHz CPU, 512Mb RAM, 80Gb HDD costs 2490 rubles / month, and installing and connecting to a 100Mbit port of a 1U server with a capacity of no more than 350W they also cost 2399 rubles / month. What's the catch?
Either the prices for collocation are deliberately inflated so that people take dedicated servers. Either rent / food / channel / security, etc. in Moscow is so expensive that the amount of rent for the server, food and channel costs as much as they now cost. Or I do not know what ...
