HackDay in Petersburg
In Silicon Valley, meetings of thinking people who gather together and bring their ideas to prototypes in 1-2 days are popular. You may have heard of Yahoo! Hackday, Google Campout, SuperHappyDevHouse or DevCamp.
September 5-6, 2009 we are hosting the first HackDay in St. Petersburg. http://hackday.ru
Idea. HackDay is an event where participants work on bringing their ideas to the prototype. You can come up with ready-made ideas, for the implementation of which you did not have time. You can build a team directly on Hackday. Finally, you can start participating in one of our open technology workshops and create a new project based on them. HackDay is not a meeting for talking, it is not a conference or a party. This is the place and time to work on real projects in the most creative atmosphere.
Preliminary program. On Saturday, there will be master classes, a division of participants into teams and the final selection of project topics. On Sunday, from 10 am to 8 pm, work will be done on projects. At 8 pm we will show demos: 90 seconds per project. The venue is now at the coordination stage.

Participation. HackDay welcomes a wide variety of work experience: programming, graphic design, interface design, marketing, sociology, project management. We also welcome participants with deep knowledge of subject areas (banking, labor market, procurement, retail, fashion, entertainment, journalism). We are interested in any projects for the web and mobile devices.
Sponsors. We are currently negotiating with a number of leading Russian IT companies. If you want to support HackDay, contact us (yury@yury.name).
Master Classes We are looking for specialists who are ready to talk about modern technologies and platforms. Possible themes: iPhone / Facebook / Vkontakte, Django, Ruby on Rails, Facebook Connect, OAuth, Semantic Web, YQL applications.
Future. HackDay is a format that can be useful in many different situations. Corporate hackday stimulates employees to innovate and directs their creative energy to the development of the company. University hackday prepares students for entrepreneurial activities. In the startup community, hackday helps to find co-founders and be in front of investors. Interdisciplinary hackday helps to combine the ideas and creativity of the humanities with the capabilities of techies. We hope that the participants of the first HackDay in St. Petersburg will become the organizers of subsequent events.
Assistance in the organization. At the moment, we need help in disseminating information about HackDay. Tell your friends. Call a friend who can hold a master class. Ask your company if there is an opportunity to become a sponsor.
