Apple gives advice to video podcasters

Apple advises video podcasters on optimizing their video for iTunes so that the same video file looks good on both the iPod and the Apple TV, which is most likely connected to a large HDTV.

In the e-mail that came to each podcaster published in iTunes, it was suggested to go to this page with the technical requirements for podcasts. The message also suggested some tips on the technical part:
Encode video in resolution 640 × 480 or 640 × 360. This video looks better on HDTV-TVs than 320 × 240, and is also ported to iPod. Although the video in 720p looks better, it is not supported by iPod. Do not do two formats with different resolutions - this lowers the popularity of podcasts and lowers the position in the charts. If the source file has a 16: 9 aspect ratio, do not add black bars at the top and bottom, To make a video with a 4: 3 aspect ratio - leave only 16: 9.
