Who instead of Schmidt?

On Tuesday, a meeting of the board of directors of Apple will take place, where they must select a candidate instead of the untimely deceased Eric Schmidt.

As you know, the director of Google and at the same time a member of the board of directors of Apple Schmidt just recently left his post (was he expelled?) After three years at Apple. This event coincided with the beginning of the real war between Apple and Google. Against the background of the brutal squabbles of the two most beloved public IT companies, it is rather interesting to find out who will become the new general in the headquarters of one of the military groups, that is, who will elect to the board of directors of Apple. Without a doubt, it must be someone very influential and authoritative.

At the moment, the Apple board of directors looks like this:

1. Steve Jobs, CEO.

2. Al Gore, former vice president of the United States.

3. Andrea Jung, director of Avon (manufacturer of cosmetics).

4. Millard Drexler, director of a little-known company, is a good friend of Steve Jobs.

5. Jorom Yorke (71), former Chrysler CFO.

6. Bill Campbell, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Intuit (accounting software).

7. Arthur Levinson, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Genentech (Biotechnology). He is the chairman of Apple's board of directors.

As the WSJ writes , this organization was most often criticized for being too “flexing” before Steve Jobs, agreeing with him literally in everything. Half of the six non-Epple directors have been members of the board for over ten years. According to experts, for such a long time it is impossible to maintain independence from the company's executive director.

According to the charter of Apple, the board of directors may consist of 5-9 people. Historically, it includes 7-8 people.

Anonymous insiders suggest that Apple may invite Tim Cook to the Apple board of directors (see the article “Genius behind Steve’s back” ).
