Intel and Micron announced the completion of development and the beginning of the supply of a new kind of NAND-memory. The memory, called 3bpc NAND, is based on a multi-level cell structure, where each cell can store three bits of data.
Based on 3bpc NAND, the first 32-gigabyte chip has already been created, which is much smaller in size than all similar chips with the same capacity (total area is 126 square mm). The cost of its production is also minimal.
New memory, unfortunately, is not suitable for use in all areas. For example, it is not suitable for SSD due to lower reliability compared to existing technologies. However, 3bpc NAND is an ideal solution for use in USB drives. ')
