First beta µTorrent 2.0

Published the first beta version of µTorrent 2.0 ( build 16126 ) - the most popular torrent client. New features in it show how torrents and the entire communications industry have changed in recent years.

For example, the main innovation is the “Transfer Cap” tab in the settings. It allows you to put a limit on the volume of downloads and distributions (in megabytes), after which the program stops working.

Everyone knows that recently providers from different countries introduced restrictions on the monthly volume of traffic on almost all “unlimited” tariffs. For exceeding the limit cut speed or charge an additional fee. A new feature uTorrent will not go beyond these limitations.

In addition, µTorrent 2.0 introduced support for UDP trackers (a less resource-intensive version of trackers) and micro-transport protocol uTP . This interesting technology was created so that the P2P client could work at maximum speed and at the same time not interfere with the work of parallel programs. The protocol monitors parallel TCP streams and reduces the download speed of torrents if necessary (if they start to slow down).
