As far as I understand the original purpose of Habr, this is an organization relative to the professional community in the IT field. “Relatively” because anyone can register. “Professional”, because not everyone will be interested here, and offtopes are not welcome. As a result, the community lives and develops. For what?
As we know, habra people have two main goals and some not main ones. These can be: the desire to share IT news, the desire to discuss them, the desire to improve their rating (cleverly speaking and publishing all sorts of usefulness), the desire to find colleagues or partners, the desire to find work and, finally, to learn something new.
But, for the publication of topics there is a limitation - low karma. And, as you know, it depends on completely different people, and not on how useful your topic was to others. As an example, habraVasya (with karma 2+) accidentally dug an article or news or someone's translation that was not yet in the tape and which, in his opinion, would be of interest to other habra people and like-minded people. The news is published. Suppose 100 people took part in its discussion. And so that HabraVasia could publish something useful further, he needs to ensure that none of these hundred people perceive his article as irrelevant or uninteresting. That is, his further collective activity depends on two people (with Vasina Karma 2). And if these people today had an upset stomach or a dizziness of the brain? And if someone is in the euphoria of the newly acquired IPOD and can not undemine a person for an article about the first virus for his toy? It does not matter. It is important that his karma can be reduced not because of Vasina’s stupidity / uselessness / inadequacy, but because of the momentary dissatisfaction of the overwhelming minority of the Habracheloveks. ')
My opinion, it is necessary to make the counting of karma independent of people and dependent on their activity on Habré.
