Russian Technologies (read Rosoboronexport) will build a WiMax network in Peru

The WiMax operator Scartel (renders services under the Yota brand, 25.1% belongs to Russian Technologies) won the tender for the construction of a mobile WiMax network in Peru, reported on Friday the Peruvian State Investment Agency ProInversion. Applications were also filed by the Venezuelan operator Omnivision and the Peruvian Perusat, but they were not admitted to the tender due to non-compliance with the requirements of the tender documentation. As a result, Scartel turned out to be the only participant in the competition and, having paid $ 1 more for the license than the minimum price - $ 3.9 million, became its winner.
The project will be implemented by a consortium of BWDC-Metsanco, which consists of two subsidiaries of WiMax Holding Ltd: Broadband Wireless Development Corporation (British Virgin Islands) and Metsando Ltd (Cyprus). The authorities of Peru have allocated a frequency range of 2.6-2.7 GHz to the consortium, concluding a concession agreement with it for 20 years with the possibility of extension. The BWDC-Metsanco fee in favor of the state on concession will be $ 1 million annually.

PS I thought about the title picture for a long time, and suddenly I came across pictures of the Nazca desert (Peru), I was very reminded of one of them by the Yota logo. I wonder if there is a coincidence?
