In October, at the User Interface Software and Technology event, Microsoft plans to show a working prototype of a new-generation keyboard. This device is able to track the force of keystrokes and respond accordingly.

According to the company, the keyboard is equipped with special membranes that track 256 different levels of application of force to the keys. During the test run, the possibility of entering capital letters or deleting a whole word with a single press of DELETE was demonstrated. To do this, just push the button harder.



The thing is interesting, which, if properly implemented, opens up new possibilities. And not only in terms of typing (in a rage pressing on the buttons to get all capital letters - not the best). Ways to improve the interaction with the PC set. For example, accelerating the speed of scrolling, a rapid increase in the volume of the player, turn off the computer (easy pressing - sleep, strong - complete shutdown). Even in games it is useful: for walking and running you will not need to pinch an additional button, you just need to press harder.

So far, the new keyboard is only a prototype. But something tells me that Microsoft can cope with bringing it to the stage of a commercial product.
