The form of submission of information must comply with the tasks of reading indications, as well as eliminate the need for complex quantitative and logical transformations.

It is very convenient to follow the dynamics of the parameter change. And in this form it is very convenient to monitor whether the parameter has gone beyond the allowed zone:

The disadvantage is that it is inconvenient to take accurate readings. To do this, the device on the first image has digital indicators.
Everything is fine, while there are few such devices, but try to monitor simultaneously a dozen readings?

You can see the temperature reading, and with the help of horizontal bars you can see if the parameter is outside the allowed limits. it is also possible to judge the degree of heating at different levels.
what happens when a parameter reaches critical values:

• The color of the bar changes;
• An alarm occurs (in the figure, the operator is informed that the pump H343 has stopped);
• One of the buttons lights up in red, when clicked, the operator will get to another mnemonic scheme, where he can take actions to prevent an accident.

Now compare yourself what is more convenient: ten instruments with scales, or one such scheme.

Where did this color coding come from?

This color coding came at the insistent demands of technologists and operators. They are so comfortable. Initially, all the bands were the same, and changed their color depending on the temperature. This option is used everywhere. If offers come in, discuss with people who will work with it.

Why this coding is not duplicated on the diagram in the right corner,? There are all the same color dots ...

The dot will change color to red when the critical temperature is reached.

Until now, no one can give a definite answer. Usually, buttons and toggle switches are used at key positions, or in cases when it is necessary to click several switches very quickly, and it is not known in advance to determine in which order to press them. An example is an airplane. In modern aircraft, the display is almost completely digital, and the controls are buttons and toggle switches.

UPD What is this post for? By the nature of my business, I have to create a user-friendly interface so that the operator can focus on work, and not on finding “this damn button.” I wanted to show an example of a competent visualization of the process.
