Launched online printing service for 3d models of stainless steel

Shapeways has launched a new online stainless steel 3d printing service for any of your 3d models. Prior to this event, the choice of materials for 3d printing was small, mostly varied polymers. But now, Shapeways has become the first company in the world to offer online stainless steel 3d printing service .

The cost of such printing is $ 10 per 1 cm3 of material. The volume of material is taken from the one that was specifically spent on printing the model. For example, the figure shown in the picture costs less than $ 20 for its size 4x4x2.5 cm.

The price also includes shipping. Delivery is carried out worldwide.
There are some limitations due to the material that can be printed. The minimum thickness of any part of the 3d model should not be less than 2 mm. The 3d model is printed with a detailing of 0.1 mm (although, as for me, this is an advantage). The maximum size of a real model that goes out from under the printer will not exceed 100x45x25 cm.

There are also restrictions on the 3d-model . But everything is simple there. The model should not have common edges for more than two polygons. The model must be integral (closed) and with the correct normals (looking outside the model).
