Two months later, Toshiba begins selling fuel cell chargers.

image If you believe the statement of the president of the Japanese corporation Toshiba, in the next two months we will have the first generation of fuel cell chargers for players, mobile phones and netbooks on the market.

Toshiba chargers are based on DMFC technology ( direct methanol fuel cell ) - a type of proton-exchange membrane fuel cell in which the fuel, methanol, does not decompose preliminarily with hydrogen evolution, but is directly used in the fuel cell.

Recall that the prototype of a laptop with a Toshiba DMFC-charger was shown at CeBIT 2004 (the first photo). At the beginning of this year, the company announced that devices with DMFC batteries will go on sale in late March-April. However, then problems arose, as a result of which the issue had to be postponed for half a year.

Nothing is known about the preliminary cost of the chargers. But it is known that Toshiba is positive about the future and believe that by 2015 the volume of the fuel cell market will reach 160 billion yen (1.68 billion dollars).
