ION LE - especially for low-cost laptops
In the near future, nVidia will launch the Ion LE platform, designed for low-cost entry-level laptops.
The chipset is completely identical to the “original” nVidia Ion with the only exception that LE does not support DirectX 10. Thus, nVidia will offer manufacturers of computers and laptops two platform options: for low-priced products running Windows XP and for more solid devices that can worthy to digest Windows 7. At least, this was stated by EMEA ION / notebook's PR manager Igor Stanek.
Finished products on Ion LE, according to company representatives, should appear soon. However, there is no exact data about the manufacturing companies that are already developing devices for Ion LE, nor about the timing of their appearance on the market.
