Yesterday, Twitter quietly launched a new feature of automatic filtering of “bad” URLs, that is, links to malicious sites. Databases of such links are known, and the same Google updates the search results in real time, warning about infected sites. Actually, Twitter and uses Google interfaces Safe Browsing API.
On Twitter, the system works like this: if you post a “bad” link, the system says “Oops! Your tweet contained a URL to a known malware site ”and after a few seconds deletes your tweet.

The fact of filtering links was first noted by F-Secure. They also reported that this protection system can be easily circumvented if you use the services of reducing links Bit.ly and TinyURL.com. In addition, the filter does not work if the “www” prefix is removed from the “malicious” URL.
