Forbes wrote about the Belarusian Silicon Valley

A month ago, an acquaintance of a journalist approached me with a request to give contacts to freelance programmers who work at home. Like, it is necessary for an article in the magazine Forbes. Honestly, it was hard to believe that a publication like Forbes became interested in my humble friends, but I gave contacts.

It turned out a colleague did not lie. Recently, the latest issue of Forbes magazine was released, where one of the main topics of the issue is “Belarusian Bangalore” (as they call the local High-Tech Park and, in general, the entire Belarusian IT industry). By the way, Bangalore is the twin city of Minsk since the Soviet times ( Bangalore Square in Minsk).

Here is an article scan , but a video ( WMV ) on this topic in the program "Business Life" . Some more frames under a habrakat.

Judging by the graphs, Belarus and India have about the same income from IT exports per capita (actually, together with the Czech Republic, these three countries are world leaders in this indicator), but Russia and China are far behind.

Of course, it was not without a long interview with Arkady Dobkin (founder and director of EPAM Systems), a kind of Belarusian bill gates.

They also wrote about the company Sacrament, whose speech synthesis engine is widely used in various software products. By the way, he also works on the Russian television channel TNT in the program “Hunger”.

They also told about the modest salaries of Belarusian IT-specialists, who before the crisis received 50-70% less than their Russian counterparts.
