Report Basic Data

- In June 2009, Opera Mini browser used about 26.5 million unique users, which is 4.2% more than in May and 143% more than in June 2008. These figures reflect the number of users who have chosen Opera Mini for installation on your mobile phones.

- 26.5 million users in June viewed more than 10.4 billion pages. Thus, they opened over 346 million web pages daily. Compared with May, this figure grew by 8.4%, and compared with June last year - by 224%.

- Last month, Opera Mini users generated more than 168.4 million megabytes of traffic - by 5.6% more than in May 2009 and by 236% - than in June 2008. Opera Mini browser is able to compress data up to 90%. If the information were not subjected to compression, users would have to download about 1.6 petabytes of data to their phones.

- India is ahead of China in the number of unique Opera Mini users. The top ten countries for this indicator in June looked like this (in descending order of the number of users): Russia, Indonesia, India, China, Ukraine, South Africa, USA, United Kingdom, Poland, Nigeria.

- Nokia mobile phones lead in the frequency of using Opera Mini around the world, and the second place in terms of this indicator is occupied by Sony Ericsson devices. In the US, users most often open the browser from BlackBerry mobile devices, and Samsung is second in this region.

- The number of Russian users of Opera Mini compared to June 2008 increased by 68.5%, and the pages they viewed - by 140.3%. Each user averaged 401 pages per month.

- According to the number of downloads from Russia, the Odnoklassniki site has come in second place, ahead of Yandex. In addition, Rambler.ru entered the top ten most popular resources for June, and My.Opera.com left the Top-10. Vkontakte.ru remains the leader in the number of visits.

- The number of Ukrainian users of Opera Mini browser in June increased by 71.5% (compared to the same month of 2008), and the web pages they viewed increased by 769.2%. On average, a Ukrainian user viewed 589 pages per month, which is the highest figure in the top ten user countries.

- Google, in May, returning to the Top 10 most visited sites from Ukraine, in June again left this rating. For the first time, the resource depositfiles.com appears on this list, and the top three leaders in the number of unique visitors are Vkontakte.ru, Yandex and Mail.ru (in descending order).

- The most popular mobile phone among Russian and Ukrainian Opera Mini users is the Nokia 6300. This device is the leader in the frequency of using the browser in the whole world. If all 26.5 million Opera Mini users took Nokia 6300 phones and placed them vertically on top of each other, then the “tower” of them would reach the International Space Station and return to Earth four times. Its height would be almost half (0.44) of the length of the equator. 26.5 million Nokia 6300 phones weigh as much as the total space shuttle with a launch vehicle and the aircraft Boeing 747.

“More than 10 billion pages open in a month say that mobile device users have de facto preferred web standards,” said the head of Opera, Jon von Tetzchner. - As a platform, web standards provide more efficient ways to create websites that flawlessly display on devices of any type. The strategy of the Unified Web today is more important than ever, and the more people use mobile phones to access the Web, the stronger its influence. ”
