Widevine, a content security solutions company, announced that its own Cypher service now supports the Adobe Flash Video format (.flv).
Widevine provides copyright protection to some of the largest media networks, helping to fight piracy. Now their service has begun to support Flash-video, which significantly expands the boundaries of the use of DRM-technologies: now every video hosting service, and indeed anyone in need will be able to protect their video content.
Widevine was one of the first to offer DRM to protect Flash, thereby making entertainment platforms both well protected (in terms of copyright) and income generating. This protection works on all platforms, all networks and devices. Taking into account the endless war between Viacom and Google, several companies involved in the protection of digital content have increased the functionality of their services, expanded the range of products that will help fight piracy. It should be understood that despite the gradual abandonment of DRM in the music industry, the network video market is not yet ready to take such a decisive step.
