Links and information on them. Should there be a type match?

I have already encountered such a problem several times when a software maker places a link of the form something. There / Soft.exe . When viewing the download page I look at the link. I expect there file. I copy it myself or transfer it to the download manager, and then a license agreement pops up or something else.

What drives these people? Why even place a page at the address looks like the file address? I think this action is absolutely meaningless and only confuses me as a user.

For example, drivers.synaptics.com/Synaptics_Driver_v10_1_8_Vista32.exe

Obviously the inconvenience of using, firstly, I am waiting for the file there, but it is not there. Secondly, when I copy this link, my download manager pops up with a suggestion to download this file. I like his such behavior and almost always, except for a direct click from the browser, I put the files for download in this way, therefore I will not refuse such behavior.

Do you think this behavior is acceptable?
