d3o - elastic material that absorbs physical effects
d3o ( di-tri-o ) is a new material, soft and elastic, until a sharp strong impact is applied to it. It is soft as a chewing gum, but if you strike a lump of this material with a hammer, the lump hardly deforms. Due to this property, the material is already used for the production of equipment for skiers: knee pads, elbow pads. In the future, it is planned to make jellies from this material to armor — elastic and not constraining movements, but not pierced by bullets and shrapnel.
Commercial use of the material began in 2005, since it has already been used in the following products:
