As expected, an
official press release appeared on the Microsoft website today, which provides information on the deal with Yahoo! in the search area. Key contract positions are as follows:
* The contract is for 10 years;
* Microsoft gets exclusive license to use Yahoo! in the search area;
* Bing becomes the exclusive search engine for Yahoo sites !;
* Yahoo! becomes the exclusive representative of the partnership to work with premium advertisers. Advertising will be served through the Microsoft AdCenter;
* Both companies will continue to maintain their own advertising tools and advertising business;
* Yahoo! will create a custom view for the search results, even though it will be based on the Bing mechanism;
* Microsoft will reimburse Yahoo! for traffic networks Yahoo! for all resources;
* Yahoo! continue to support existing search partnerships;
* Microsoft guarantees Yahoo! a certain income from each search in the first 18 months for each sale in any country;
* full implementation of partnerships is expected in two years.
PS: some personal thoughts:
* Yahoo! does not receive any "money ships" about which it was dealt with the takeover, Yahoo! in general, it does not immediately receive money, although the company seems to be guaranteed a profit;
* MS gets visitors to Yahoo! It’s hard to say how important they are, but considering that they don’t cost Microsoft anything, this is a good deal;
* This transaction is a regular partnership agreement. There is no takeover; there is no sale of parts of the company;
* Yahoo! and Microsoft are becoming strategic partners on the Internet. This can affect not only the search business. Analytical mode off.
