The new ASUS EeePC 1004DN is a neat, simple-styled netbook, in combination - the first car in the EeePC evolutionary series, equipped with a built-in DVD drive.



The drive can not only read but also burn discs. In addition to reading and writing DVD, the netbook has a very convenient almost full-size keyboard - its dimensions are only 8% smaller than a standard keyboard (almost all new ASUS notebooks and netbooks are equipped with similar ones), for which a special thank you to the company's designers. Inside there is an Intel Atom processor with a clock speed of 1.66 GHz, which can not only add speed to a netbook, but also manages to reduce its appetites, reducing power consumption.

Also, the computer uses a new graphics chipset Intel GN40 , perfectly coping with the playback of high-definition 720p video. A clearer 1080p format will not work, but it is not necessary. Do not forget that 1004DN is just a miniature netbook, and it has a 10-inch display that supports 1024 × 600 pixels. By the way, the display has an LED backlight, which means rich colors and a longer battery life. Together with the proprietary technology ASUS Super Hybrid Engine, a netbook without an outlet will last up to 5.5 hours.

Externally, this is in every way a pleasant to the touch machine, made in soothing colors: something in between a netbook for a businessman and an advanced grandmother of a businessman that would be appropriate to look at the office and at home in the kitchen. The computer case looks like it has been treated with abrasive, while the computer itself and the battery weighs only 1.45 kg.


Other characteristics of this netbook are quite typical for the Eee PC: a 120-gigabyte hard drive, a multi-functional card reader that can read eight different flash card formats, three USB connectors and an omnipresent ExpressCard for connecting various complex devices. Fingerprint Recognizer is a pleasant arabesque, but the most important thing in the new 1004DN , nevertheless, is the DVD: if for some personal reasons (watching movies, installing software and games from disks, etc.) you didn’t have enough of it in previous models netbook eee, now there is even this.
