Browser to choose from? Only not in Russia

In Russia, a “shortened” version of Windows 7 without a browser (or with a special menu where you can choose a browser at will) will not be distributed. This version is intended only for EU countries. In all other regions of the world, including Russia, the standard version of Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8 installed will be on sale, the Vedomosti newspaper writes .

True, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has already requested documents from the European Commission on the integration of Microsoft’s browser into Windows in order to find out how this situation is in line with Russian anti-monopoly legislation. The FAS itself sees nothing illegal in this. They just want to see why Europe decided otherwise.

Why doesn't FAS see anything illegal in this? Because the commission has not received any statements about this. In Europe, too, there would be no “raids” on Microsoft if Opera had not dared to initiate this process.

In Russia, Opera, as you know, has nothing to complain about. Here, her browser in the first place , and no "monopoly" of Windows for some reason does not interfere.
