Did you like the
modular phone? Do you want to assemble any other device to your taste? Want a camera with built-in GPS, please. Want a player with an accelerometer, please. Almost anything can be assembled from Bug modules.

Back in late 2007, Bug Labs introduced the concept of a modular computer BUG. The idea of this Linux-based device is as follows: there is a portable basic computer module to which, depending on the specific needs of the user, other modules are connected, be it a digital camera, an accelerometer, a display, or any other device. The set of modules offered in the company's online store is now rather poor, but at CES 2009, representatives of Bug Labs showed some very interesting products that should significantly increase public interest in the project.

For example, the BUGprojector is a projector module built on the basis of DLP technology and capable of displaying a picture with a resolution of 480x320 pixels with a brightness of 9 lumens. BUGsound turns a minicomputer into a music player with a 20mm speaker, omnidirectional microphone, hardware codecs and four 3.5mm audio jacks.

BUG3g and BUGwifi are wireless modules. The first one has a SIM card slot and provides access to the Internet through a third generation mobile network, and the second one offers Wi-Fi (802.11b / g) and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR functionality.

You can find out which modules are already on sale on the
BugLabs website. Also there you can find a lot of interesting video.
