For inciting ethnic hatred - on trial

The case of inciting ethnic hatred on the Internet, launched in September 2006, was resumed in Novosibirsk. The accused, 37-year-old Taras Zelenyak, the son of the famous mathematician Tadei Zelenyak, was brought to trial for having published calls on one of the Internet forums to expel Russians from the Baltic countries and Eastern Europe. The case was again dealt with after the procedure of re-drafting the indictment, the agency "New Region" . The process is leading the new court.

Zelenyak, according to the investigators, in his own words “to give Katsap a kick in the ass and relocate to Novaya Zemlya” could incite national, racial and religious enmity (Article 282 of the Criminal Code). The phrase “Who will tolerate Russian disgusting in the Muslim republic?” Is also attributed to its authorship, containing a positive assessment of the separatists ’actions in the North Caucasus, Kommersant reports. The accused left both statements on the forum of the Ukrainian site proua.com under the nickname novosibirsk-2.
Zelenyak himself denies that he published Russophobic texts on the forum. But the data of his provider, who turned the attention of the FSB to the unlawful behavior of the client, testifies to the opposite. Later, on the confiscated home computer system unit from Zelenyak, these unfortunate messages, recognized by linguistic expertise as forming the “negative image of Russians”, were discovered.

The new version of the indictment includes all negative words used by Taras Zelenyak in the messages on the forum.
