Problem: Miranda refuses to connect again
A couple of days ago, Miranda unexpectedly stopped connecting to the server via the ICQ protocol, giving the following message:

Having run a quick search on the Internet, I did not find any specific references to the problem, except for two interesting messages from user
R (i) SK from the Miranda Forum:
forums.miranda-im.org/showpost.php?p=186787&postcount=1969forums.miranda-im.org/showpost.php?p=187003&postcount=1971')
The first one says something like:
“At the German forum, more and more users of version 0.7.19 report that they cannot connect to icq. The server reports that their ICQ version is outdated. ... " .
In the second:
“This problem is related to changes in the server, which relate to the efforts to cancel ICQ 6.0 and transfer clients to ICQ7. They are currently in the process of updating all servers, so the problem will affect more and more users. Joe is working on a fix and I’m sure he will provide it soon .
”Then I decided to just wait a bit: Firstly, I have 0.8.1, not 0.7. And if the problem does not go away by itself, then someone will inform about the decision. Moreover, the alternative methods of communication have long been established and the absence of ICQ does not hinder much.
But two days passed. There was no solution, but another message appeared on the forum:
forums.miranda-im.org/showpost.php?p=187317&postcount=1975R (i) SK: “Joe, in the meantime, even users of 0.8.2 with the appropriate ICQ plugin report from this issue”Possible solution: SSL Connection
Then I decided to try to figure it out myself. It took about 10 minutes with different settings ... and suddenly the problem was solved by installing the
Secure Connection (SSL) [experimental] checkbox in
Network-ICQ .

Moreover, after the first successful connection and the subsequent removal of the jackdaw - everything connects again without SSL!
What was it, Pooh? eight-\
Perhaps the authors of the protocol will write ... let them check.
I publish on Habré, because maybe someone will be useful. There is practically no information on this topic.
Questions on the topic:
- Has anyone encountered this problem?
- Did this decision help?
UPD:1. Judging by the comments, the problem exists. And for other alternative messengers as well.
2. Possible solution: Log in once from the official ICQ client. After that, the alternative client starts working. (thanks
Rifat )
*. And of course, do not leave ICQ as the only method of communication. It is safer to have several options. :)
UPD2:Time passed and it seems the problem went away by itself. Nevertheless, if someone encounters in the future - I hope the proposed solutions will be useful. And one more thing: as noted at the Miranda forum, SLL Login appeared only in version 0.8, so that something like the “2” option is suitable for older versions.
